Vincent Crotty, an Irish-born artist from Kanturk, County Cork, has lived in Boston since 1990.  His work ranges through landscapes, seascapes, nocturnes, and figurative painting executed with fluid and vigorous brushstrokes that are balanced by sensitive color.  His paintings reveal a remarkable understanding of light, one which transforms his everyday subject matter into memorable and moving images.  40 plus years of exhibition in both Irish and American Galleries has seen his work recognized by awards from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, the John Stobart Foundation,

Plein Air Magazine, and international juried art shows.  Vincent has offered workshops in Ireland, Canada, and throughout the US. He teaches weekly classes at the New Art Center in Newton, Massachusetts. He has given portrait demonstrations at the Harvard University Art Museums with commissions from the Boston College Burns Library, the Irish Cultural Center of New England, New York’s Michael J. Quill Cultural Centre and many private collectors.  In addition, Vincent has created set designs for theater companies and productions including A Christmas Celtic Sojourn, Atlantic Steps, Cork City Ballet, the Huntington Theater Company, and Kieran Jordan Dance. Four of his paintings were used on the set of the movie Mystic River

Cathy McCarthy was the 2023 Best in Show Winner for her pastel “Treasures” at the Scituate Arts Association's Juried Show. Cathy studied Graphic Design and Illustration at UMass Dartmouth and continued her studies in Fine Arts at The Corcoran in DC and UVM in Vermont. While in the DC area, Cathy worked in galleries and was the owner of the Creative Framing shop and Gallery as she began her career as a freelance artist.  Some of her most treasured accomplishments are the public art projects and murals that she worked on in California and Vermont.

Cathy now lives in Scituate and spends most of her creative time in her studio in Marshfield when not hiking or kayaking. Her work has won many local awards. Of winning Best in Show and her piece, Cathy states, “I am honored and thrilled to have won Best in Show! And of

"Treasures":  It’s all about realizing the little things in life that bring me happiness.  The treasures, seen and unseen; some suggested, some dreams.  It all started with a comfy chair!  Find your treasures.”
